Pajaratan ini dikenal sebagai situs bersejarah bagi kalangan masyarakat luar ataupun dalam Gununghalu. Yang dulunya sering disebut sebagai Gunungharum. Pada zamannya, tempat ini digunakan sebagai tempat penumbukan padi dan dikenal sebagai tempat penyimpanan beras terbesar. Karena di sini kita dapat menemukan monumen batu besar yang diperkirakan pernah digunakan sebagai penyimpanan beras.
Ada juga yang menyebutkan asal usul nama Gununghalu ini karena dulu terdapat alu dan lesung yang dibuat dari batu. Namun, karena kemajuan zaman, alu dan lesung itu hilang. Tidak ada yang tahu pasti bagaimana alu dan lesung tersebut bisa hilang.
Sejak dulu, kebanyakan masyarakat luar yang selalu menggunakan tempat ini sebagai tempat beribadah. Namun, bukan berarti tempat ini adalah tempat pemujaan. “Mereka hanya ingin beribadah dengan khusyuk kita tidak menyembah selain kepada Allah. Bedanya, disini kita beribadah bersama-sama” ujar salah satu penjaga tempat tersebut. Mereka biasa datang pada malam senin maupun malam jum’at.
Sebenarnya tempat ini bisa juga digunakan sebagai tempat wisata ataupun tempat bermain bahkan untuk menambah wawasan pengetahuan. Sayangnya, masyarakat di sekitar tempat inilah yang acuh tak acuh terhadap Pajaratan ini. Banyak diantaranya yang selalu mengatakan bahwa Pajaratan itu horor dan angker. “Saya sebenarnya agak kecewa dengan masyarakat disini, mereka terlalu menghiraukan tempat bersejarah ini, padahal masyarakat luar daerah sini banyak yang tertarik tentang asal usul Gununghalu dan cerita pajaratan ini” ujar salah satu penjaga tempat tersebut lagi.
Jarak dari Jalan Raya Gununghalu ke Pajaratan sekitar 500 meter. Jalannya agak terjal karena di pinggirnya terdapat jurang yang cukup dalam. Bisa menggunakan motor, namun bila dengan berjalan kaki itu lebih aman. Wilayah Pajaratan ini sudah masuk ke wilayah Kampung Cihanjawar Desa Gununghalu Kecamatan Gununghalu.
Tentu ada banyak versi sejarah asal usul Gununghalu. Setidaknya kita jadi lebih tahu asal-muasal daerah kita sendiri yang diharapkan menambah kecintaan pada kampung halaman.
